Monfefo // Justine Monsul

Created by glow babe Justine Monsul, Monfefo makes wellness shots that we simply can’t live without. Ever since Justine introduced us to these glowy little bottles of goodness, we have been completely and utterly hooked!

Since 2014, Monfefo has been handcrafting organic cold-pressed beverages out of their very own factory in Brooklyn, NY. By handcrafting the shots themselves, they are able to ensure that every bottle, every batch, has been made with love and attention, allowing for a high vibrational product…can you say GLOWY?! Monfefo sources only the highest quality organic produce from sustainable farms, working closely with farmers they know and trust.

Once the Monfefo team receives the fresh produce, they triple wash everything with filtered water. They then gently grind the produce and cold-press the roots. This “root juice” is then mixed with fresh organic citrus and a touch of sweetener (we use only organic honey or organic agave). These products contain no additives, preservatives, artificial ingredients, or cheap sweeteners, so you can feel really, really good about consuming them every day, or multiple times a day like we do!!

Our absolute favorite way to drink the shots is poured into sparkling water to make a ginger or turmeric soda. Not only is this combination incredibly tasty and refreshing, it also amps up your immunity and wakes you up from the inside out. We can’t tell you how amazing they make you feel, you just have to try them for yourself!! Jessie’s almost two year old daughter is even hooked, and is always asking for “spicy ginger water” :) The shots are amazing on their own or even mixed with some alcohol (we go for tequila or mezcal) and sparkling water to make a clean, delicious cocktail that you can feel good about drinking.

Justine Monsul

Name:

Justine Monsul

Nickname:

J, JJ, Justysia (polish nickname that my mom and loved ones call me)

Profession:

Entrepreneur, Founder of Monfefo

Where did you grow up:

Basking Ridge, NJ

Where do you live:

NYC

What does “healthy” mean to you:

I would say that my lifestyle is all about eating good quality, organic ingredients. Since I could talk, I told my mother I didn’t want to eat meat. Over the years, I have slowly become a pescatarian and will have bone broth, but I have been a healthy eater since I can remember. It simply just makes me feel good.

What is your favorite indulgence?

Sleeping in and turning off my phone.

What are your favorite spots/restaurants to indulge?

I love Gjusta in Venice, Mexico City street tacos (later washed down with some mezcal), and my brother in law’s grandmother’s home in Israel where she makes the most amazing homemade Moroccan food.

What is the best dish you cook / your favorite recipe?

One dish that I can never get sick of is my mom’s kale and leek recipe. You first sauté 2-3 leeks in olive oil, then you add a lot of kale followed by a splash of white wine, salt and pepper. Let it simmer for 10 minutes then add it to the oven with feta on top for about 20 more minutes. Enjoy!!

Top 3 items you always have in your kitchen?

1. Lemon
2. Honey
3. Ginger Shots

What is your fitness regimen? (how often & what you do)

I don’t really have a workout regimen, however I am always active and moving around. I love swimming, yoga, back flips on the beach, hikes and running. I am also open to any other form of exercise, whether it’s boxing, rock climbing, salsa dancing, and more!

What is your skincare routine? (Products, facials, etc.)

I always wash my face at night. I wash my face with Marie Veronique’s replenishing oil cleanser. Then I use Biologique Recherche P50 to help exfoliate my skin followed by In Fiore Complexe De Fleur and finally a few drops of Vintner’s Daughter serum. It’s quite the ritual, however, when I wake up I just splash my face with some water, a little sunscreen and go out the door!

What is your self care routine?

I really enjoy slow mornings when I can. I spend a few minutes in bed just feeling grateful and excited for the day, followed by a meditation and some stretching.

Also after the shower, I spend a solid 3-5 minutes moisturizing and massaging my body with coconut oil to help get my energy flowing.

Finally, simply just dancing around my apartment instantly puts me in a good mood.

Top 3 favorite songs?

I love all types of music. It’s really hard to chose just three. However, a song that will time and time again always make me feel good is by the Talking Heads “This Must Be The Place (Naïve Melody)”.

Most life-changing book?

Becoming Supernatural: How Common People Are Doing the Uncommon by Dr. Joe Dispenza. What I love so much about the book is that it ties together the mysticism of energy to your actual biology. To have knowledge about how our brain works tied with manifestation is really fascinating for me. It’s the type of book that you should read at least 2-3 times. Just go and buy it now! ☺

Favorite Hotels?

Post Ranch Inn - Big Sur, CA

Hotel Joaquin - Laguna Beach, CA

Les Roches Rouges - Corsica, France

Coolest place you've ever visited?

Hard to say because at the end of the day the coolest place can only be the coolest with the coolest people. That being said I’ll choose (as of today) Waimea Bay in O’ahu.

What is the best gift you've ever received?

Love and Knowledge

Who are your most trusted healers?

I really love healers that have a background in western and eastern medicine. I believe it is good to have knowledge in all fields to gain a deeper understanding of things.

One healer I love is a magical woman who I heard about through a friend. She lives in Upstate NY in quite literally a crystal cave. She contains a gregarious laugh that makes you want to join in and laugh with her even though you don’t know what it is about. She is a psychologist as well as energy healer.

I also really love my acupuncturist based in Chinatown, NY. She is not only a wise woman who gives great advice but is also a certified clinical nurse, herbalist and acupuncturist. She helps shift my energy around when needed!

What is the biggest learning experience you've had to face and what did you take away from it?

Stop being a broken record!! We all face pain in our lives whether it is from love, family, health or so forth. What I have learned over the years is to stop playing back all the pain you have faced in your life and playing the role of the victim and start detaching from those memories. Don’t let the past become your present and future. Accept what these memories have given you and MOVE ON!! There is so much excitement and joy ahead!

Describe your perfect day.

Laughing with loved ones. Being in nature, expressing oneself in some form of art and simply being aligned with life! Also, swimming with dolphins in clear blue water doesn’t hurt.

What is your most valuable glow tip/secret?

Meditate. Take all that energy that you spend on the external world and bring it back to you. Focus on yourself. Clear your mind and be present in the moment. When you take all that external energy from focusing on what you need to do, who you need to talk to you, what you need to buy, who you need to see, what work you need to do and take all that energy and bring it towards yourself you will not only feel stronger but also lighter. For me, glowing means that you are less dense, you quite literally are glowing because you are lighter. Thus, if you let go of matter and become more light – you can glow!

What are you grateful for?

In terms of business, I am grateful for the factory that I built from scratch. I am also grateful for my amazing team. Without them, Monfefo would not be what it is. They are all Monfefo Rockstars and I couldn’t be more happy to work among them.

In terms of life, I am grateful for so much. This beautiful planet we live on, the sun, the ocean, knowledge, family, friendships, love, soulmates, sex, connections, ginger, animals, good conversations, art. I mean this list just goes on.

What makes you glow?

Love. Loving myself and loving others. Being present among a community of like-minded individuals and laughter!!
